Tatum Marquis, DVM
Dr. Tatum Marquis has been our Medical Director since the spring of 2023. She has worked in the animal field since she can remember. Growing up in CT, around both farm and companion animals, she built a true passion for all aspects of veterinary medicine. She worked as a veterinary assistant from 2008-2011 when she then became a certified veterinary technician in 2011. She worked in emergency and general practice until 2016 just prior to veterinary school. She graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2020 from St George's University, after completing her clinical training at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She has special interests in dentistry, surgery, preventative medicine and has expansive experience with internal medicine, dermatological, and epileptic cases.
Dr. Marquis is always eager to advance her skills in medicine and surgery, as this field is constantly growing and developing. She plans to grow right along with it. Her passionate drive and determination keeps her focused on providing gold standard veterinary care to each and every one of her patients. Her hobbies include riding and racing motorcycles, tattoos, art and building a life here in East Tennessee with her partner, their "island dog" Meaty, their standard poodle Teddy, and their two cats Charlie (or as she likes to respond to "Baby Shmoo" and Turtle.

Piper Gauthier, DVM
Dr. Piper Gauthier grew up in the rural Northeast Pennsylvania where her passion for veterinary medicine and natural affinity for animals began. Having a variety of interests, she obtained her Associates in Biology and Culinary Arts at Northampton Community College and became involved in student leadership. After graduating with her Bachelor's degree in Marine Sciences at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, she studied abroad in the Philippines doing research on thresher shark conservation, ecotourism and soft coral molecular biology. Prior to her completion of her DVM from the University of Tennessee in 2024, she worked as an assistant pastry chef, PADI Divemaster and aerialist.
She has special interests in exotics, large animals, surgery, dentistry, emergency and internal medicine. She is always looking to grow and expand her skillset in veterinary medicine and retains a strong passion for leadership training. She recently completed the Leadership Challenge's Certified Practitioner Course. Dr. Gauthier is excited to bring her love and passion for leadership and veterinary medicine to serve the local community surrounding Boyd's Creek Animal Hospital.
Her hobbies and passions include: hiking, dancing, painting, yoga, Service Dog Training with her White German Shepherd, Gaia, experimenting in the kitchen (while letting her Shetland Sheepdog, Sprytz, sample her creations), camping and relaxing around a campfire.
